Abstract

This paper presents the use of simultaneous inversion to explore the hydrocarbon potential in the Zubair & Ratawi Shale Formations, and focusing on searching the cap rock (shale) within these formations in the Sabiriyah field of North Kuwait. As part of the workflow of this study, quality control and analysis were performed on the seismic data, petrophysical and rock physics analysis were carried out on 11 wells . The simultaneous inversion was performed on the seismic angle stack data using the model logs from rock physics, wavelets estimated on different angle stacks. From these results, further analysis was carried out to reservoir characterization. Later the results were validated through the blind wells.
