The gravity data were used in a study to investigate the geometry and geological structure of the Mandawa basin situated in southwestern part of Previous HitTanzaniaTop. The acquired raw data were processed by computer program known as surfer. The processing of data included the columning the data in x, y, z columns, then grading.

The interpretation of gravity data indicates thick sedimentary sequences as a result of long term regression and transgression episodes. The sequences have varying characteristics that can be due to deposition mechanism or degree of compaction of sediments (formation of sedimentary rocks overlying the basement).

The overall history of the basin; tectonics; sedimentary sequence their thickness and facies distribution; compiled with other geological features can combine together to form potential petroleum plays. Lower sandstones together with cretaceous sands only the eastern flanks of the basin are potential reservoirs.
